Clothing Storage - Sealed Totes?

So I have (1) Plano 1919 box that’s 108 quart. It was an ok price, and I thought it was sealed but wasn’t. I contacted Plano about it and they sold me the print and the longer hinges for I think $10, plus s/h, which I didn’t think was too bad.

Anyway, now my son and I have too much stuff for that one tote so I need another one. I found these big ones at Home Depot, but they don’t and won’t seal.

Anyone have a cost effective solution for something sealed to keep clothes and gloves and hats and stuff in?

I store all my clothes in similar totes for off season, but i put my clothes in ziploc bags like these.

During season, i'm a little more of scent freak in that i have scent crusher ozone closet that is pretty heavy duty fabric and the ozone generator does pretty good job of eliminating scents right before i transfer from closet to totes like these where i have drilled hole in them and run hose from 12V ozone generator in truck.

I use tubs like that and put my clothes in clear garbage bags. I like clear bags, they're much easier to see what you've got. If you want a sealed tote you would need to get a 100 qt. ice chest, 35.30 x 17.40 x 16.80 Inches, but walmart at $127.93 wouldn't be very cost effective anymore. The nice thing about this unit is that you can use it to haul your quartered meat home if the hunt is successful.

I have the same large tote I started with 25 years ago, I see no reason to buy a air tight waterproof bin for your offseason storage. I use large vacuum sealed bags too, like the ones you store pillows and blankets in. Wash clothes at the end of the season. Fill the bags one at a time in the tote, them suck the air out. The one tip I would give you on these bags is to duct tape the seams before you use them and don't over pack them. Had the same bags 15 years. I also separate my bow hunting clothes from my gun hunting clothes and the same with layering clothes. Then when the season comes I take my clothes out, wash again, air out for 3 weeks, wash the tote and just put the clothes back in the tote, traveling to and from and getting dressed on location. I am a scent nut too but can't spend the money on the ozone thing.

If I had to store mine I’d probably get a tote.

But since it’s just me n the wife and the FIL I use one of the empty bedrooms closet to hang all my hunting clothes and bags.

The wife uses another for her extra clothes.

I found two large locking storage bins at good will. They were full of Christmas crap. 10 bucks apiece. Bought em and donated the Christmas stuff back. I keep everything in vacuum garment bags in them.

i wash all my clothing whether it was used or not in scent away detergent and use their dryer sheets too, roll it up tighty and load in a rubbermaid type container. i put several of those earth odor discs in the tub before closing and in the fall everything has that musky damp earth odor. i have two large tubs, not sure of sizes but they are about 3.5’ long, 2’ wide and about 1.5-1.75’ deep.
 
end of the season I store my stuff in a regular large tote, but I wash everything, make sure they are 100% dry, let them get to room temp prior to storage and put in those space saver vacuum bags. Good to go until next fall. Would love to get a scent crusher bag!!!!
 
I do what some of the others have posted. I but the giant vacuum storage bags and use those in my totes. My totes seal up pretty tight, but I also like separating the gear into warm, cold, gloves and hats, and baselayers. That way I dont mess with my other stuff if only using certain items.
I don't actually vacuum seal the bags, but I do my best to get the air out when closing them
 
I use vacuum seal bags for storage but the ones I have are too noisy for getting dressed in the field so I use the Stor-All XXL zip locks from Dollar general. They are about 24"x24" and the XL bags for smaller items.
 
Even the “sealed” totes I’ve never really found to be great. I always wondered why I couldn’t find a locking handle plastic tote that had a simple gasket around the top to be truly airtight. Haven’t seen one yet. I use plastic totes during the season to store my clothes in after running the ozone generator in them. I leave them outside on my porch though because they’re not really airtight and I don’t want human odors from the house getting in there. Usually line the bottom with dry leaves, just an old habit. If someone knows of relatively cheap plastic totes with a gasket let me know please.

These totes actually do have a simple sealed rubber gasket and 6 locking clips. If you zoom in you can see the gasket through the clear plastic. Probably not sealed good enough for NASA specs, but sealed plenty good enough for freshly washed, scent free hunting clothing.
 
I like those totes and the idea of a few clear ones instead of one big one. Now that my kids have more gear, it’s tough to keep organized in my large tote. I may have to try this
