I started the morning high on a ridge hoping to call in a love sick Tom. Today was one of those mornings when they can’t help but commit. I called these birds a long way. Thinking at first they were the jakes I heard gobbling from the roost. I was pleasantly surprised that two big long beards came charging in.

I arrowed the first one that game me a shot at maybe 10 yards. He died 20 yards from my blind and his companion did what turkeys do. I let him enjoy beating up his dead buddy for half an hour and eventually ran him off. I couldn’t even budge him with a coyote howl.

The trout fishing was decent. Caught one brown and s few Brookies.

Managed to get all five of my St Lawrence apples in the ground this evening.

I’m tired but today was a great day!

This turkey dodged a few pellets in his time. Pulled this one out between his breast and neck.

Great looking place,Our birds aren't as heavily hunted so haven't found any pellets but we did have one that had a spinner bait through its beak

That’s hard to explain! Must have been feeding around a local pond.
