I think so, but not 100% certain.... I always think Black oaks look like a cross between norther red oaks and pin oaks. They are the size and style of a NRO, but they have deeper lobes like a pin oak, without the "thin" appearance of a pin oak leaf.

Reminds me of black oak. I always think the bark, especially on mature black oaks looks a little bit like alligator hide, with separate, blocky shapes, as opposed to red oaks more linear bark pattern.
