I would say this buck was in the 130 inch range as a 2 year old.almost all the biologists put the deer at 4.5, which would mean you could have started hunting him as a 2.5 year old. Based on your knowledge of what he scores now, what do you think he would have scored three years ago when you started hunting him?
130" at 2 years old is good food or good genetics, or both.I would say this buck was in the 130 inch range as a 2 year old.
We have both. This is the peanut belt of Va, mild winters, plenty of summer browse. The only downside is dog hunting. It runs the deer down and they have a harder time recovering in late Jan through green up in the spring.130" at 2 years old is good food or good genetics, or both.
Dog hunting is one sport that I'm kindof glad that we don't have here in PA. I can't imagine dogs having free range of our best bedding areas. It would take half of the fun out of habitat management. We have both. This is the peanut belt of Va, mild winters, plenty of summer browse. The only downside is dog hunting. That's I say hunting in the south where dog hunting occurs making killing old (5+) deer harder than anything else in the world.Dog hunting is one sport that I'm kindof glad that we don't have here in PA.
