    AG lime spreader idea

So living in Georgia, we have some fairly acidic soil and getting a lime truck to your plots back in the woods is not always possible. Most of the soil samples I have done over the years require on the average of 2 tons per acre. It gets expensive using pelletized lime. I have seen the new...

    Firminator....worth the cost

I haven’t done it, but the manufacturer states you can set your disc straight and sow into clover. Sent from my iPhone using Deer Hunter Forum

    Firminator....worth the cost

If you get a chance take time to go to the Sunbelt AG show in October. You will get a chance to tire kick the Firminator, Brillion, Kasko, and Woods. You will likely even get a nice discount on what is actually at the show. That’s what I did before deciding on the firminator. Below is an LC...

    Firminator....worth the cost

I have used mine for a full year and still working out some of the kinks. Overall, I really like the machine. Its a huge time saver. I did upgrade my cultipacker wheels to 15" since much of the soil I am in is very sandy. The larger wheels are a must if you plot in a sandy loam. I originally had...

    Pellet Lime Question

thanks for the input...I try read as much as I can find from University research papers and everything I found was not lining up with his comments. I did have to ask him twice to confirm his comments of 3 years to breakdown pellet lime in soil.

    Pellet Lime Question

So for most of us we have to use pellet lime since it flows through our spreaders much better than trying to fight ag lime or pulverized lime. The local farmer near our club says he has an Agronomy Degree from the Univ. of GA and states that pellet lime is sugar coated and takes 3 years to...

    Broadleaf control in

I have a similar mix this summer(hemp, soybean, and cow peas) and tried a few options. Something always died. Raptor was the only thing I could find after research but it's expensive. Sent from my iPhone using Deer Hunter Forum

thanks for the replies. I will give it a try and report my findings for everyone that is interested. if it doesn't work out, I guess next year, will just be soybeans and sunn hemp with an initial glyphosphate kill and maintenance with 24d-b

    iron and clay peas....

Is there a good herbicide for broad leaves in an iron clay pea plot? I have plots in a iron clay peas, soybean, and sun hemp. I have tried 24d-b and it kills iron clay peas but didn't effect the soybeans or sun hemp.

    watefowl gun...

synthetic stock and coated. makes a big difference since your gun will get wet. I have a 12GA Browning Maxus(actually made by FNH, been flawless for 3 years) and a 10 GA Browning Gold. My opinion stay away from the Gold(any gauge). They can become a PITA cycling when they get dirty.

Let's talk hunting boots for cold weather

+1 for Cabelas. Lifetime warranty on their footwear. I have used this a couple of times and it was never a hassle to get a refund of the original purchase price or put towards another pair of boots. Their footwear warranty unfortunately no longer include their waders, but they will pro-rate them.

    What size disc?

I have read that a good place to start is approx needing 5hp per foot width of disc. But there are just so many additional factors. Soil type, 3pt vs pull behind, weight of your tractor, traction: type of tires, 2wd vs 4wd. Start calling some of the disc manufacturers and check their...

    300 Blackout

temp and humidity are also a factor. my original post of 1100fps was an estimate....but just checked the remington site. the chart states 1050fps for their 220 subsonic rounds.

    300 Blackout

my personnel experience with the 300 BO. (AAC 9" Upper with AAC SDN-6 suppressor) 1. With a subsonic 220gr HP from Remington, I took a suppressed shot at a nice 10pt from just over 100 yards. Based on what I felt I read on the ballistics, it should have been more than enough. Well, even though...

    Firminator....worth the cost

I found a pretty good price on a used 5 year old 6' Firminator and plan on picking it up on Sunday. Triple C I see you are in North East GA. I am near Augusta.. maybe we could do a side by side comparison between the two this Spring and post the results and share with everyone?
