    Spraying brassica

What are you spraying on your brassicas? I just used a backpack sprayer on mine but from the responses to your post I could have driven my quad and sprayer over mine. I used clethodim and I know I didn’t get the coverage you’d get with a quad or tractor mounted sprayer.

    Rye grass vs Turnips/radishes

Thanks good to know. I was planning on filling in some spots with winter rye as early as next week.

    Rye grass vs Turnips/radishes

I’ve not used clethodim before and have some questions: Does it dissipate like gly or does it stay active in the soil? Is it necessary to use a surfactant? Thanks

    Rye grass vs Turnips/radishes

Thanks for the reply smallplot. In this instance I’m talking about rye grass as an uninvited guest in my plot, not about the cereal grain rye. It looks like it could choke out my brassicas if it grows quicker than the brassicas and starts to fill in. Just wondering if I should kill off the...

    Rye grass vs Turnips/radishes

I’m talking about which one wins out when all of them are on a food plot. I sprayed and killed rye grass before planting but it’s back and thick in spots. Other areas it’s pretty sparse. Turnips and radishes have germinated and are a few inches tall and about the same height as the rye grass. I...

    Fall Food Plot-HELP

When I started getting serious about plots I ordered from welterseed.com and handcockseed.com. But when you’re buying 50# bags shipping is a killer. I got lucky and found a place on the my way to my property that sells grazing supplies to farmers which includes a lot of seeds I’ve used for my...

    13-13-13 plus micro nutrients

Thanks for the replies As for what I’m planting and plot prep, I just planted radish and turnips on one side then in a couple of weeks I’ll plant rye, wheat and oats. Hopefully the photo I tried to upload will appear to show the plot prep but I think it’s pretty good. Neighbor disked it and...

    Shade plot ideas

I’ve got a few hickory trees on the south side of my plot that cast a pretty big shadow as the days get shorter. I used to plant turnips and radishes in the whole plot but what was planted in those shaded areas never grew more than a foot at best. I have noticed that rye, wheat and oats do...

    13-13-13 plus micro nutrients

There is a product available from a reliable supplier that is a “balanced” fertilizer with micro nutrients added. From what I can tell this place caters to larger ag customers but has developed this product for smaller food plotters like me. It’s a 50# bag of 13-13-13 plus: Iron at .72%...

    Red rooted pigweed??

Wow, thanks for the responses but wow. There are some plants still growing at the corners of my plot and I'll be down again this weekend to pull them and gly anything that looks like it could be trying to grow. Still a mystery of where it came from.

    Red rooted pigweed??

That's what I've been reading. I'm ready to go down there again this weekend and spray gly on the plants that are still uncut. Does gly kill it? Still a mystery where it came from in such great numbers.

    Red rooted pigweed??

I'll try to post a better pic tomorrow

    Red rooted pigweed??

Fair question, especially since I've not planted it before. I don't think so since the pics I've seen of mature buckwheat have a white flower and don't appear to be six ft tall like this stuff. Also the farmer never mentioned that possibility and he has some familiarity with buckwheat. Thanks...
