    Operation: Move my trees!

Yes I planned on doing a little pruning but there was hardly any exposed roots so I’m not sure how much I should do. Most of these except for the Concordia weee started in rootmaker pots so they don’t have much of a taproot to begin with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Operation: Move my trees!

Didn’t sand in these. Honestly didn’t think about it. I assume it’s used as a gap filler between the root ball and the hole? I did notice that the trees down in the woods didn’t seem to fit in the hole as well as they did in my backyard. We did however water them in good by filling the hole...

    Operation: Move my trees!

Thanks. Water will definitely be a must for sure. We’ve had some pecan moved before and most of those did fine after they recovered so I’m hopeful these will do the same. Matt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Operation: Move my trees!

Yes you read that correctly. We are about to attempt to move some of my larger chestnuts and oaks from my old place of residence to where we live now. A little background and for those that don’t know we have decided to completely remodel and sell our house. With the sale will go several 8-9”...

    Concordia Oaks

I can’t vouch for Morse one way or the other but Concordia are partly Swamp White and their leaf patterns can be the same. I have three in my yard and two look like swamp white and the other looks like a Chinkapin. They all came from MDC about 12 years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Almost to the point of giving up…

I’ll still have my home orchard and will try to keep that going as best I can and will try to supply nuts to folks but unfortunately they just don’t do well here. They aren’t native here and there’s a good reason why I suppose. I do have some good chestnut trees here at the house if I can manage...

Almost to the point of giving up…

Never thought I’d say this but after 15+ years of trying to get various varieties of Chinese Chestnuts, hybrids, Americans and everything in between to grow here in NE TX I’m about ready to throw in the towel. I can amend the soil, no problem. I grow them in special pots for 2-3 years, no...

    Walmart Dunstan Trees - Expectations

Easy access to buying them, their size, their age. One of the two I purchased on clearance last year is loaded with burrs this year. I’ll probably end up picking them off due to its size. Both of them are producing catkins. For a wildlife tree they are hard to beat @ $15 a pop.
