    Broadcasting grains into clover

I've seen ok use out of Winter rye, not great use out of oats, but neighbors fields seem to get tore up when they have wheat. Which do you guys like the best for overseeding perennial clover plots? I've always used rye as I like the soil health attributes and like the oats because it's low...

    Brassica size/planting method

Thanks for the reply. It's in lower OH. 1600 acres. I've got about 9 acres of rye and clover going in as well. The deer will mop it all up. I'll hit it with a culdipacker as well and not flip if there isn't a difference. Thank you. It will save me some time skipping that step

    Brassica size/planting method

Putting in about 11 acres of brassica tomorrow and curious if people see a size difference in the bulbs/plants between when they break up the soil with a disk//tiller, and just laying it on the surface of a sprayed field that has plenty of seed to soil contact?

Homemade Push Pole/ Habitat Hook for Hinge Cutting Trees

Hopefully I can post pics soon. I thought the habitat hook was short/weighed too much for what it did. I made one out of a piece of 10' aluminum conduit 3/4" diameter. I had a buddy cut me the "hook" part out of metal with a plasma cutter that had a shank that went down into the conduit about...

Clover establishment under walnut trees ?

Wondering if I can get a decent white clover stand in a Walnut tree grove ? Google search came up that Grant Woods says it has less susceptibility than most plants to the Juglone on their Growing Deer Site. Less susceptibility than other plants doesn't necessarily mean its gonna be worth the...

    2020 success OH/MI

Wrapping up with a little bit of doe hunting with my daughter this week, but probably done buck hunting for 2020. I was able to fill one of my MI buck tags on a nice 3.5 yr old that we had lots of pictures of on Nov 14th (night before gun opener) Grunted him in from a couple hundred yards...

    Phragmites-who's dealt with them?

I do a lot of this for work. Spot on with the first post about the Gly. The best advice i I can give is to use a good surfactant , and wait till about late September to spray when the plant is storing up energy in its roots to overwinter/go dormant. This gets a much better kill. A once or 2 of...

    2nd year switch/pre emergant

I was under the impression Atrazine and Simazine were very standard used products as a pre emergent for switchgrass. I have used Atrazine up to 4 quarts/acre and had an extremely nice stand of switchgrass that spring, I have less experience with Simazine, but was hoping to make that switch if it...
