Watering Hole

This is a catch basin I dug recently for cattle and deer. It seems to be working okay but it's the first time it has had water in it. So we will see how long it last and if it will seal up enough to hold the water for an extended period. This was just run off from a 3/4 inch rain storm. This is my third or fourth attempt at these. Two of them are decent the others are okay at best.

I used our front end loader to put one in so far, and have plans to install at least one more. When there is water in it, I have pics of deer, pigs, coyotes, buzzards and turkeys utilizing it. Unfortunately it does not hold water as well as I would like and I am going to try bentonite when I can get some.

Since my hand... dug water holes were a lot of work and a complete bust, I purchased the Rubbermaid 50 gallon water troughs from Tractor Supply. They work great!!! Easy to handle, place and fill. I've had them out for nearly a month now with cameras on them. Haven't had a deer use them yet. LOL!!
