Sugar shack

I was a complete novice at making syrup a few years ago, but thanks to folks willing to share like in this thread, i learned an at least functional way to make syrup in my backyard. Concrete blocks, metal pans, and lots of wood for heat. With one day committed to boiling the sap, we have a years supply of maple syrup.
I liken the light syrup to vanilla syrup. It has an amazing flavor. I can imagine many days boiling sap when life slows down some day.

Gator, Yes, my father does sell most of what he makes. I think he is still working on filling orders but in good years has some extra to sell. Its a good way to pay for spring taxes!

I'd love to try it if you can give me some info on ordering some.

Gator, we have some quarts left for $14 each plus whatever shipping would be. I would be happy to send you some. Just pm me your info before the end of the day Saturday.

After that anything that is left goes to a local food market.

Thanks,
