    Sugar on plots

Ed's past literature did only mention urea and AMS. However, in his most recent published article, he specifically mention the use of table sugar along with AMS. I don't know how much he has to backup the benefit, but he is convinced it brings in deer.

    Sugar on plots

Wild idea, but I read that about five days before hunting starts to spray a sugar solution on your food plots. It is suppose to make your plots much more attractive to deer. This is in conjunction with applying urea and AMS several weeks before hunting. Has anyone done this and if so did you...

Has anyone tried RR sugar beets?

I have planted sugar beets several time. I got the seed from Ed. My understanding is Monsanto did give permission to use the seed for food plots. In my situation, I have never had anything better at attracting deer then sugar beets. The down side is deer really like them and you need to...

Micronutrients- who knows what they are doing?

I am no expert but dgallow is. If you can get your soil right, that is clearly the best of all worlds. However, if not, I have taken an idea from dgallows of putting out natural mineral salt which has 60-80 minerals in the right amounts for deer health. It is quick, simple, low cost, and the...

Small No Till Clover Test Plot

Steve, Your results are very impressive. I started doing something similar last year based upon all the posts by CNC. He definitely started a revolution in my mind. Good results with far less effort, what is not to like, plus it builds up your soil. Thanks for the post. Lew

Trophy rock versus mineral block- has anyone tested for preference ?

Bottom line, is Trophy Rock best for deer health and growth by getting a natural balance of minerals? Or are trace mineral blocks from TSC just as good. Just thinking about results, not cost savings.

    How to remove thatch

I agree with the let it rot down advice. The quality of your soil is the key to good plots. Organic matter is important to good soil. I have seeded into thatch and had good success, sometimes better then bare dirt. I know the feeling of wanting instant success and I have hurt my long term...

Protect a Food Plot from Deer

dgallow knows what he is talking about. However, there is sometimes more to the story. Right now I have low deer numbers and they don't eat up all the food I provide. But, if I want to grow a very preferred food that is sensitive to early browsing, then protection is needed. My best example...
