One shrub and a grass

Ben, welcome to the world of Vernal Sweetgrass (Anthoxanthum odoratum L.). Until it finally drops seed in a few more days, it will choke out everything else on the earth. Once it seeds, it will kind of fade away and you will see other plants take its place.
Can't say for sure yet on the other picture. Let it leaf out a little more.

Thanks Steve. My fields are covered in that grass, and I wasn't familiar with it. That shrub is growing all over, and browsed pretty well.

I think that second pic isn't really a shrub. After seeing some tulip poplar trees, I think that is what it is.
