Chestnut hill trees at walmart

Went to the local Walmart today. They had no Chestnut Hill trees at all. I did get their brand of 1 each Red Delicious apple, Golden Delicious apple, turkey fig, and the wife just had to have a Japanese Magnolia. I spent a total of $43 including tax.
 
Called the closest walmart at 2 pm yesterday and they hadn't arrived yet. Called this morning at 7 am and they had 3 left from a total of 44 that came in last night. Even though I got the last of the bunch they were good looking trees, about 5 foot tall.

Trees I planted the summer of 2014 produced their first burs this year......I'm pretty pumped!
 
I bought every chestnut and persimmon our Walmart had may 25 last year. They were still marked at $30, talked to manager and told him I would take them all if the price was right. I left there with 19 trees for $102. $5 a tree plus tax. Planted them July 11th. 16 made it, and two of them are over 12 ft this year. I'm very happy with mine.

I finally got to see the trees my dad picked up this year. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the discounted 3 gallon Dunstans he purchased are in fact 7 gallon trees, not 3 gallon. I'm pretty sure he got the deal of the year at $10.50/each.

There was a downside to the 7 gallon surprise, I ordered 7 gallon grow bags. I ordered 10 more bags (10 gallon this time). I won't be in town to transfer them but did mix the 3-1-1 soil-less medium. 3 parts mini pine bark, 1 part sand, 1 part peat moss. IMG_1493.JPGIMG_1492.JPGIMG_1491.JPG

Since I got the last three trees my store had they weren't in the best shape. The worst of the 3 lost most of it's leaves after planting, but is pushing out new growth now.
