    Natives ....from scratch?

I just found Roundstone and sent them an email (and will follow up with a phone call if I don't hear back). Thank you for the reference. Thsi property is in se Ohio, not that far away from him at all. For sure on the caging. There are a couple little low areas I whip planted some RO...

    Natives ....from scratch?

There are threads with aspects of this ....but after a bunch of searching couldn't find a cumulative one to help me road map this. It is also on a couple of deer habitat forums. We have 15 ac of invasive junk being mulched (in southern Ohio) and don't believe the landscape was ever populated...

    Callery Pear Grafting

Very new to grafting here- as in getting a grafting kit for my birthday this week kind of new (LOL). Our Ohio piece has a few of these darn CPs. Ironically theyre in good locations for fruit trees. Is it also worth trying to graft on to cut stumps or just get actual fruit trees in the area?

Buying land with a timber reservation

My biggest concern, esp with some of the midwest versus the northeast, would be the resulting effort needed to deal with invasive and cut (with subsequent weather) related damages.

Buying land with a timber reservation

I looked at a couple in Ohio - both were clearcut and left rough (though I still regret being neither). Sit on it 5 years, go in with a mulcher and you will have the ugliest, but most productive, deer property around on the cheap. Just me though

    Gly for hack and squirt

Dumb question time- Would using a basal bark spray (tordon or a dieselmix) also for H&S? I will have some Tree Of Heaven, Winged Allenthus, Gums and BH all to tackle in one area. Other than a few random Walnuts and Oaks, I wanted to nuke the area but would love to carry one container and believe...

    Crown Vetch

Great point. I was looking at it in its plant devoid sandiness and didnt really think "how did it get like this and why is so naked?" Compaction makes sense. I am not sure a subsoiler is in my future or this area is a priority. I honestly was looking for the easy button on getting some organics...

    pop up blinds

I wonder if a ubolt through the blind deck to a fiberglass rod (like driveway snow stake) through the eyebolt on the hubs would work

Dr. Craig Harper - Manage Your Fields for Bigger Bucks and Better Hunting

So grasses are exclusively managed with mowing? Equip in Ohio had me believe “wildlife openings” were just food plots and had never thought of the native possibilities. (A 15watt light bulb slowly illuminates ….,”hmmm”) I have a couple of gas line ROWs- I wanted to cleth them and let the...
