Sapling Winter Care

Planted some saplings this spring, cedars, ponderosa pines, and oaks, they are about a little over a foot high now and I was wondering what I should do for winter care for them. Any tips or resources out there would be greatly appreciated.

I don't do anything to seedlings planted in the ground. If you are worried you could always mulch with old hay.

If they are in the ground I wouldn't worry about anything but deer and rodents in the winter months. Come early March they will eat anything that they can get to.

I always pile dirt around the bottoms of my tree tubes before winter to help keep mice and stuff from tunneling under them and protection around the base of larger seedlings to keep stuff from chewing on them.
