We all heard the horror stories. Silicone ring. Breaks under 19lbs of pressure. Got the line of duty thin red line.

it is good thing for you that you are an expert craftsmen because with those hairy knuckles you would never make it as a hand model. :p

The very concept of a wedding ring is dangerous. The little metal band is the least to worry about.
Yes but if i didn't get married I would be living in a trailer with expensive toys all around me .........hunting all the time .........now I'm depressed.

Getting married is the best thing that ever happened to me. On top of her being my best friend I've got a free cleaning lady (including the lodge) an excellent cook, massage therapist, spare driver, deer meat deboning specialist, babysitter, psychiatrist, laundry woman, and secretary. All for free, plus she doesn't like hunting or fishing, so I don't need to worry about her taking my best spots. Not bragging, just saying, there are good women out there.

Back to the OP- I learned my lesson back in the 90’s when I was at work. I was removing a ladder from a rack on a full size van, and had to step up on the bumper to get to the latch. Slipping on the wet bumper, I fell, and ended up hanging from my ring, breaking my finger. Haven’t worn it while working since.

I started wearing mine again after retiring from years of construction work. It's somewhere in Trinity Co., Texas waiting for someone to find it. I think I lost it while gutting a slickhead ! o_O

Its not free.:D If you think it is, she either has you well trained, or you married the right one. I think it is the latter.

I watched a safety meeting video once where a guy jumped out of a barn loft and hung his ring on a nail just as he started to descend. That was many years ago and I've not worn a ring since that day.

I won one of those at a race recently. My wife didn't think it was too funny when I put it on and showed her what "that women over there gave me". :)
I knew quite a few old timers in the machine shop that only had a stub for a finger. Moving parts (sharp moving parts) and metal bands don't seem to go together real well.

I was climbing down the snow covered rungs of a ladder stand one day and my foot slipped off one of the lower rungs. Hung my ring on one of the pins that locks sections of the ladder together. Dislocated my finger. Took ring off immediately. Knuckle swelled and a lot of the swelling stayed - could never get ring back on.

I've been seeing lot of workers around here wearing those John. Certainly a finger saver. Better than the tattoo type.
I took care of one ring problem in another way but it cost me a monthly check for a few years.:D Best check I wrote every month. But as was said, there are good women out there, luckily I've had one for quite a while now. Makes you appreciate life.

I have one too, they wife didn't like it when I told her I bought a new wedding ring for $19. I need to wear it more, there are plenty of 9 fingered (and less) guys in the milling industry.

Never worn a wedding ring, or any jewelry for that matter. I just can't get used to it, the stories like some posted here didn't help. Bothered my wife for a bit but after 20 years I think she realizes she is stuck with me.

I got wasp stung on the ring finger while wearing my wedding ring. Had to cut it off with a dremel. Just like hitting yourself in the head with a hammer. Feels so good when you stop!
