Out with the old farm and in with the NEW!

After a lot of thinking about it, AND land prices in SC skyrocketing over the last 5 months, I decided to sell my 68 acre farm in Cherokee County SC. Lots and lots of searching led me to a new 91 acre property in McCormick County SC. Got it under contract contingent to my land closing and new survey to be completed on the McCormick farm. This all came together in the last 3 weeks and I closed on the new farm 3/20. Spent the weekend working with skid steer and excavator. 35 acres are new clear cut with fresh loblolly seedlings planted in December after a heavy herbicide spraying last August. I used ChatGPT to help me design a plan for the place. I have a 25 acre sanctuary in the NW corner and just over 5 acres of plots I will be doing. 3 acres of these plots will be lanes in the pines and a couple of natural openings. The other couple acres will be in the new cutover once we finish stumping it out. We dug a large water hole from a spring fed wet spot in the cutover as well. Once it grows up around it, it should be perfect with plenty of cover around. I will post some pics.

I will be getting a 10x20 cabin at the entrance.

This was about halfway thru the dig on the water hole from the spring. Should be filling and clearing up in next couple weeks. This water only took about an hour or so to enter total.

Put out a mix of minerals in what i think may have been an old mineral site several years ago. Property has not been hunted in 5 years so things have grown up in what were old plots and fields.
