ironite

Ive got a 6ft tall 3yr old sawtooth that has chlorosis bad and a 12ft kieffer pear that is really really yellow as well both are starting to get brown spots and lose leaves. Last ditch effort I bought some ironite today to try, any suggestions on the amount to use? everything online shows huge variations in amounts

Send leaf sample to local plant lab (same place you send soil samples). I did that with peach trees that looked similar to what you described...had to add ironite and lots of nitrogen. They perked right up.

Ironite does not burn, so apply it generously. As trees mature, the roots find what then need, but until then broadcast Ironite over the entire root zone. I use about a pound per tree, and if that isn't enough, add more.

I dont have any experience with the Ironite, but I do use a water soluble iron in my drip irrigation and it can be sprayed as a foliar application as well. It works well for me. You can get the iron by itself through "Jacks Fertilizer" company.

I did not apply near enough then, i gave the 6-7fters like 1/4 of a solo cup around the roots and the big pear maybe 2/3 cup. We went from super hot and dry to 13" of rain the last two weeks as well so that'll either help or make it worse ha

Last year I applied a 20% granular Iron to several of my oaks in l gal pots that were chlorotic. I never saw a change from them last year but when they leafed out this year they are not chlorotic and have better color than the untreated trees, even after they were upgraded to a larger pot. So don't expect a quick result unless you do a foliar spray of use the old school ferrous sulfate.

You should check the ph of the soil, the iron may be tied up and unavailable. Or apply Humic Acid to help make the iron available.

I tend to have alkaline ground for sure, ill look into humic acid, never heard of it.
I hear you brother. Sulfur worked in a little over time will drop soil pH as well as you can acidify your water when watering with regular battery acid (sulfuric acid). Its a hassle just depends on how much you want to grow something!

Also called Humate, but humic and fulvic acids are great for helping release tied up nutrients but if it's a ph problem that should be dealt with after a soil test.
