I just recently read on a news feed our President elect Donald J. Trump is planning on eliminating "Daylight Saving Time". Folks, I don't know about anyone else but I really like the additional hour of daylight at the end of the day.
Retired now but when I was working the additional daylight gave me time to do yard chores and enjoy some outside activities after a day's work I wouldn't otherwise be able to. I owned my own auto repair and light truck repair business and when the days got shorter and it was dark at or near closing time you could clearly see the difference in people's attitude when they came in in darker hours. Not really pleasant in some cases. Just plain cranky in a lot of cases..
When it comes to hunting in the later season our hunting day ends at 1/2 hour after sunset here in NY State. It surely is nice when you get the chance to climb up in a stand or sit in your blind and watch for the "Big One" to come through just before legal hours are over after scrambling home from work after a hard day's work.
Have a nice dinner, sit out on the deck and watch the sun fade away as it sets in the Western Sky. Nothing worse to me than sitting at the dinner table, staring out the window only to look into total darkness.
A lot of these decision makers have never experienced anything other than the walls of an office. They have no idea of the beauty out there in the real world we as sportsmen and women enjoy. If they can see out of a window it's seeing into someone else's window. Sure, what does daylight mean or not mean to them?
We who call ourselves outdoors people and enjoy it need to band together and lobby to keep Daylight savings time in effect. In fact I would suggest we lobby to keep DSL all year long.
Let your Legislators know. A squeaky wheel is the one who gets the grease.
