Fall Trip Recommedations

Hey crew, I have a little different request. October 1st is the Mrs' and my 20th anniversary. Our fall schedule just opened up some with our youngest' decision to not play volleyball. So, we are looking at the possibility of taking a trip to the Great Lakes region the first week of October. If we spend an evening near Paris, IL (family friends), then travel north to Lake Michigan and into eastern Wisconsin or western Michigan, do any of you have any advice on sightseeing, where to stay, and perhaps a good recommendation on a guided fishing trip, for walleye, or something similar?

Apparently nobody lives in that area? If you come over into Lake Erie I can put you on some walleye, I go out there with my own boat several times a summer. Catching walleye in Lake Erie is like taking candy from a baby the last few years. @George look how far as can stretch my arms on this minnow!

KS if your looking for a really cool place try ludington michigan. It's located on lake michigan and one of the best salmon fishing ports in the Great lakes. It's even possible you could ride on the badger across lake michigan. Ludington is top notch.
 
For fishing I'd think the Bay of Green Bay would be your best bet. You could get a guide out of Kewaunee, Door County or Marinette. Marinette has a Best Western you could stay at, Green Bay has several hotels, Door County has several resorts and I'm not sure about Kewaunee. Guides out of Marinette are mikemladenik.com, brockinandreelingguideservice.com and weekendwarriorwi.com. Don't know any guides out of the other two places but I'm sure google does. The Bay of Green Bay has lake trout, salmon, walleye, perch.

Don't know what kinds of things you'd like to see, but if you're a football fan a tour of Lambeau is interesting. Door County and northern Marinette County would have some nice fall colors about that time. Marinette County is also the waterfall capital of Wisconsin.
 
Thanks everyone! She is going to run cross country this fall Cat. So being gone a week only means missing one meet, rather than multiple volleyball games, including at least one tourney.

Caney Valley Bullpups. Both the girls and guys should be pretty solid this year.

She is doing it primarily to improve her 800 times in track, and get ready for basketball too. Plus the girls have a good shot at making it to state and she likes that idea obviously.
 
Caney Valley has a great program! I think we'll see you guys at the Winfield meet. If I remember right Caney boys beat us at that meet by 2pts last yr. Good luck to her! I'm a believer in CC for helping Basketball. My youngest usually never subs out of a game, and takes huge advantage of tired defenders in the last couple of minutes of the 4th.

Do you read the Prairie Star? They have one of the best sports writer I've ever known. They give us some great coverage!
 
Ha! Caney Valley? One of my best friends boys goes there. Small world. I even have a Bull Pups Football shirt I wear proudly from his oldest’s high school days!

Know a lot of Gillmans. I believe there are two pretty big families not related.

Was the older boy Colton?
