    2016 bear

Looks great! I am planning on relocating to the ID panhandle this summer, a spring bear hunt is one of the hunts I am looking forward to.

    2017 MN DNR seedling order

Check out plug seedlings, there are two different options in MN. I planted 500+ of a variety of spruces from Itasca Greenhouse three years in a row and it went very good. I purchased a specialized tool to plant but there are guys out there using shovel handles or other things to make the hole...

Norway carribou dead from lightning strike

My cousin lost around 12 head of cattle a few years back that were under a tree in the middle of the pasture during a storm. If you google cattle and lighting strikes there are quite a few articles out there. So fairly common, but 300+ animals at once seems very unusual.

    Bear hunting?

Yes, I am planning on trimming things up myself. I will likely end up bringing some in to get made into summer sausage, not sure where yet. Could check with Lines over by Cromwell, pretty sure they do bear. We used to get beef done there and it was good, never brought venison in but I know they...

    Acorn/Mast forecast

Bur/white oaks in my part of MN look pretty good, a few that are loaded and most have some. Did not check any of the northern reds. Also, lots of american hazelnuts and found my first beaked hazel on our place.

What kind of tree is this?

I also thought red, to steal Native Hunters term, due not having the "wispy" look of the whites. Should be able to look at any needle cluster, check out this link: http://www.mywoodlot.com/index.php?option=com_zoo&task=item&item_id=356&Itemid=108

    Bear hunting?

Nice! I have two baits getting hit. Our neighbors family/friends group has 4 tags and has a lot of activity as well.

    MN Deer numbers

I think that our corner of the permit area has lower hunter per sq mile and not as much available access to public land compared to the eastern and southern part of the permit area. Far enough away from the bigger towns to keep the local pressure on public land down, and another 1/2 hour drive...

    MN Deer numbers

Stu, Twolftg is around 6-7 miles from my place as the crow flies to give you a another idea of where he is at. This summer on an evening with good conditions driving from my place to up by Tamarack you could probably see 50+ deer most evenings and maybe close to 100 if things were perfect. The...
