One Thousand Chestnut Trees - a Whitetail Deer Project

Thanks, Grizz. I had checked earlier and believed their crop was poor due to the drought they suffered. I sent them an email to get a direct answer. I am not interested in chestnuts they sale for culinary purposes. So, I expect to get an answer from them shortly, one way or the other.

State Nurseries - Ordering out of state ?

I suggest you order from MDC and a couple of others. Availability can be an issue from time to time with weather impacting regions differently. By interacting with multiple nurseries, you can generally find what you are looking for. I have used Missouri and Tennessee state nurseries with...

One Thousand Chestnut Trees - a Whitetail Deer Project

Thank you for the kind words. Thank you for planting trees and giving back to the wildlife. NativeHunter can advise you which apple tree varieties are best to avoid cedar rust. For me personally, I realized later in life, that it was more rewarding to give than receive. I believe I can say...

One Thousand Chestnut Trees - a Whitetail Deer Project

    Chestnut Production?

I had some real good news yesterday. I have buried chestnuts for two years, in Fall of 2021 & 2022. Digging them up is no fun but it works if you are playing the numbers. I filled 4 dorm/beer fridges up and put 2 gallon buckets and small plastic paint containers in the hole. So in the 2023...

    Chestnut Production?

KSQ2 I buy what is called pine fines from my local garden center in my town. In the past I would use pine bark mini but over time their quality control slpped greatly on the size of that product. Going to the pine fines has really worked well for me. As yoderjac does, I don't use the pine...
