    The Hunting Beast

I found the hunting beast last fall and ordered his Hill Country dvd, a lot of good scouting ideas in it. Had a chance to do a little scouting on some public ground last spring before green up and the tactics were spot on. The way he plays the wind and uses milk weed to check thermals was an eye...

    Can't beat corn.

After reading your post I have to agree with you small plot, but it was an in uniform game warden that told me that. It was 6 years ago so the law may have changed. I'm done planting corn anyway, 3 acres this year and couldn't find an ear come October, definitely a draw while it had corn.

    Can't beat corn.

Small plot you might check again on that, the game warden that did my son's hunter safety course said for deer, turkey and dove as long as it's grown there it can be manipulated anyway you want, but not for water fowl. But like most answers you get in IL it's up to the warden.

    Help for a new hunter?

Buckwheat, I think J-bird and Jeff gave you some great advice. If I were you I would finish your year out hunting when you can and enjoy being out there, also note where you are seeing and hearing people shoot. I would get on the state website to see what kind of maps they have for this property...

    New Adult Hunter, go solo?

Jax, get on the IDNR website, look under state parks and see if any are close to you. Some of these are archery only and can be good hunting.

    What Tillage Equipment

I understand, when the winds swirl while its burning is gets a little nerve racking. I would go with the wheat/oats yet this fall and if you may throw some turnips/ radishes in with it to help break up the ground

    What Tillage Equipment

I did the same thing a few months ago, my mistake was mixing the gly to weak. I think you are in the same boat here, 3 oz per gallon is pretty weak especially with this thick grass. I mowed mine with a brush hog, sprayed at 5 oz per gallon plus 4 ox deposion aid/ defoamer, come back 2 weeks...

    New Member Intro....

IMO if you are going to take the hunters safety course I would have your son take it with you, may save you a weekend next year when you could be out in the woods.

    Stump Licker

Hey Blizzard, just an FYI, it is illegal to use any salt or minerals in Illinois. Might not want to post to much about it. Unless you are doing it out of state

I have the ingredients, can you help with the recipe?

That looks like a mix I'm going to use this fall, Whitetail Institute's white clover says 8 lbs per acre. IMO I would use everything you have their except the radish's and PTT's, I would use half of each of those, that seems like alot, but there are a few guys on here that would know more. I'll...

How many plan to walk away from QDMA?

I knew of QDMA but never checked into it until a couple of months ago a local guy had posted on facebook he was having a QDMA field day on his property. I attended it that day and those 2 guys filled my head with ideas, so that week I checked their website and found the forum and I have been...
