Anyone familiar with radiant floor heat?

Well it looks like I may have found what I need. After doing a lot of searching, and some people pointing me in this direction, I found a device/service called the MarCELL temperature monitor. It appears to be a cellular only device that you set up in your room and then you set the parameters...

Anyone familiar with radiant floor heat?

The pex tubing is in the poured concrete and the cabin has been built so as far as which way we go, there are no questions on that, that part is a done deal. We considered all heat options and went with the radiant floor for many reasons. Im not worried at all about the fluctuating of...

Anyone familiar with radiant floor heat?

I'll also add the frost wall, which I believe is 48", was done with insulated fox blocks and an insulation pad was put down under the concrete slab.

Advice for new cabin build please

Swat, for the fill you mentioned, would the material they take from the excavation be used for that and the rest gravel brought in? #2 stone I had trucked in for my driveway was $9 a ton. So their 22 ton loads were costing me like 200 bucks a truck load.

Advice for new cabin build please

Thank you sir. I'm not sure on some of those questions. I don't know what concrete goes for here or anything about seams. A couple things I do know, yes metal, no chicken coop materials, lol. I called the local lumber mill and both contractors that came to my property use them. They guy...

Advice for new cabin build please

Bear, love the idea and great outside the box thinking. The only problem I would run into there is the space I'm putting this is where I need the residence to be. It's the only flat spot left up from the septic and by the well.

Advice for new cabin build please

I appreciate all the info so far, there have been some great points. Please continue with your thoughts and prior experiences. As for the pole barn idea, after doing some research on it it looks like it's not very cost effective to build a pole barn, then frame everything up on the inside...

Advice for new cabin build please

Hello all, I posted a question a little while ago asking what kind of structure everyone had on their property. Well after much consideration my wife and I decided to build a small cabin. We paid an architect to develop plans for a very simple 28x36 gambrel style cabin with a half loft 2nd...

What type of structure did you put on your hunting land?

Hi, we currently have a well septic and electric on site. Right now we have a park model trailer we plug the electric and septic into an fill the trailer with water. So we have those. We would need the concrete pad, structure and then tie the utilities in.

What type of structure did you put on your hunting land?

Ok. My thought was get it built and the cabin portion insulated, framed in, dry walled, plumbing to the kitchen and bath and electric run. Then do projects to it as time goes on and I can save, ie knotty pine the inside, more furniture, etc.

What type of structure did you put on your hunting land?

Guys, I am the OP and am still looking into all of this. My plan is for this to be my last "camping" year. I am really looking at the pole barn/cabin. If any of you don't mind giving me an idea of what you paid for yours? I know there are a ton of variables but my initial thought is...
