    Family, Friends, and the Outdoors...

It's almost that time if year again... When the rut is rocking and bucks are on their feet with their guard down. It's also one of my favorite times of year, because that's when my friends and family come to visit, and we feel like little kids again playing cowboys and Indians, but this time...

    Hunting with my big Brother

One of the best parts of hunting is the camaraderie that can be had when hunting with family and friends. This hunt was the first time my brother and I had hunted together in a long time, and we had a blast stalking this buck like a couple of hungry wolves. My brother Aaron is the epitome of...

    Wife hammered a good one!

My wife doesn't have much time to hunt with me these days, but on this particular day I was able to coax her out of a warm bed on a Saturday morning to go out into the wind swept prairie, and put the chase on a big, rutted up buck. She wasn't too happy with me at first, but felt a whole lot...

170" buck killed on the ground @ 25 yds

Definitely one of the best hunts of my life, including being very surprised how big this buck was. I knew he would be my personal best as I started the sneak, but I had no idea he was quite as big as he was. I was using a .22-250 that I had bought for the kids and my wife that year, with 60...

    How old is my buck?

I would say a 1.5 yr old, but hey man, you got your first buck! Nothing wrong with that at all! Starting out, don't get sucked into the antler vortex that runs rampant now a days. Certainly nothing wrong with holding out for a "trophy", but as a newer hunter just have fun!

    How old is this buck?

My guess would be 3.5. Thing is you never know what a buck can turn into, but if you have better genetics running around I would have a kid take him out.

A hunt with my brother for a big prairie buck. Good laughs, a big buck, and great memories are what it's all about!

    Public Land Success!!!!

Not a deer hunt, but I figured most would appreciate - Check out this hunt as my daughter and I put the checkmate on the always wary, pronghorn antelope buck!!! Hope you enjoy!

Another first kill thread - 12 year old's first with a bow

My daughter Gracie is a real girly, girl. Very sweet, soft, and gentle. I thought she would be the least likely of my kids to really like hunting. Surprisingly, (and enjoyably) she has really taken to it, and is really liking bowhunting. She has taken quite a few with her gun, but this was her...

My first with a Recurve - Schafer Silvertip

I have shot a number of deer with a longbow, but a few years ago I purchased a Schafer Silvertip Recurve. I had yet to harvest one with it, but finally succeeded this past week. I got some great footage of the hunt and made a tribute video to Paul Schafer. Hope you enjoy......
