    Bush Honeysuckle management

Its also one of the first to green up in the spring. It can be a war and take space of native browse, so if you dont have much, get rid of the invasives

    Mini corn feed silo.

Not sure where youre at but there are some quality manufactured big feeders out there. Just bought two 1600lb ones for a place in southern OH from a guy in NC

SAVAGE 220 BOLT ACTION SLUG GUN VS STRAIGHTWALL CALIBERS

I think theyre renaming it to the 350 OHio. LOL. The 6.5cr got so much hate...but this 350L seems twice as popular in a deer hunting state. Had a couple 220s. Great guns BUT good slugs are hard to find in 20ga. I had one early and was using Barnes, Remington bought and discontinued them. Then i...

Seeking Opinions on hunting in the wind

Here's the most profound deer advice you'll ever get: Hang, and use, some observation stands and trail cams. Glass/learn from afar for your specific engagment. What deer do in one area is not the same as another....especially with you being in the NE. I like in wNY and hunt all over. Theres...

    Drought and Survival

My little area of southern Ohio had me reach out to Whitetail Institute about their cactus and tumbleweed blend; Cac Rack.... Being an out of state land owner and seeing the last two years being bad (with ' 24 being a 150yr drought) .....it makes a fella wanna give up. Trees, water holes...

    Drought and Survival

Southern Ohio will likely have 2 dozen expensive sticks, inside of fencing my next trip down. Scorcher the last month and half and just a hair over 1" of rain. Trees for folks out of the area are a masochistic exercise.....

    Natives ....from scratch?

Had an amazing conversation with the biologist yesterday. I am a year (or more) out from planting though. Will be using a couple of their mixes (Deer & Turkey Habitat, Escape Cover)

    Natives ....from scratch?

I just found Roundstone and sent them an email (and will follow up with a phone call if I don't hear back). Thank you for the reference. Thsi property is in se Ohio, not that far away from him at all. For sure on the caging. There are a couple little low areas I whip planted some RO...

    Natives ....from scratch?

There are threads with aspects of this ....but after a bunch of searching couldn't find a cumulative one to help me road map this. It is also on a couple of deer habitat forums. We have 15 ac of invasive junk being mulched (in southern Ohio) and don't believe the landscape was ever populated...

    Callery Pear Grafting

Very new to grafting here- as in getting a grafting kit for my birthday this week kind of new (LOL). Our Ohio piece has a few of these darn CPs. Ironically theyre in good locations for fruit trees. Is it also worth trying to graft on to cut stumps or just get actual fruit trees in the area?

Buying land with a timber reservation

My biggest concern, esp with some of the midwest versus the northeast, would be the resulting effort needed to deal with invasive and cut (with subsequent weather) related damages.
