    Turkey Time...

I set a 1 bird limit on our place until we are back to the MO glory day #'s of the 1990's - early 2000's. We will see if that ever happens!

    Blackberries

The more you eat the less seed is available! I have killed them with Triclopyr 3 and 4. Also had good luck spraying after fire regrowth.

    MULLEIN

If it goes south, I have "heard" it also make good toilet paper in a pinch!

    Burn baby burn!

I like broomsedge for turkeys and quail too. Sometimes there is no use trying to make soil into something better when it is already meeting habitat needs. I am going to be lighting some broomsedge and other native grass about first of April.

    The Playground

On the last trip up I also met with my MDC Private Land Conservationist. For the AO regrowth he recommended Triclopyr and DuraCor. I have sprayed plenty of triclopyr over the years, but the DuraCor from Corteva is a new one. My PLC said they were getting much better kills than with Triclopyr...

    The Playground

The bend was on a big honey locust. I didn’t take a picture of it. After pinching the bar, It spun coming off the stump then landed on the bar. First one I have managed to tear up, always coming up with new ways to waste money. In the picture are silver maples nice to cut something without 6...

    The Playground

Went and dropped more locusts yesterday. About done cutting need to start piling. Off to the Stihl dealer today! I always keep two bars for when I get hung up. I need to get better at running a saw! After nasty thorn covered honey locust ended the day adding to the maple food plot in the...

    Chainsaw Chains

Working on finishing up a brush removal cost share. Went up yesterday and dropped pretty big honey locusts. Had a big tangled branch one spin pinch the saw and then proceed to fall on the bar. Fairly expensive junk tree! Anybody have any suggestions for decent chains that are cheaper than...

Stone Branch, build it, they will come.

I had one show up with only one side after this last snow. I may go stumble around this afternoon.

    Favorite Calibers?

I have shot more deer with a 308 than anything else. I have been using a 30/06 for the last 5 or so years, deer won't know the difference in the two. I have used a 223, 243, 270, 6.5 CM, 30-30, 300 blk, 7 mm mag, 300 win mag, 35 Rem, 44 mag and 50 cal muzzleloader. Nothing works better than...

    3 Apple Trees

How is enterprise with CAR? I contacted Morse and they will switch out the gold rush. Based on their resistance list maybe a Liberty?

    3 Apple Trees

How far is close to a cedar? Definitely have cedars in the area. Just wondering if we are talking within 10's of yards or within 100's of yards.

Ended up ordering an Enterprise, Arkansas Black, Gold Rush and a Morse Wildlife Apple from Morse Nursery. Set delivery for during MO's turkey season in April.
