Exactly what was planted in that fall plot ? Mine have already eaten my spring plots down to the stalks. My home plot got some torrential rain on it right after planting, and I know some of my seed and fertilizer got washed away as it is on a down slope. I didn’t want to plant it over, and it...

    Grading tips?

Get some cattle ear tags that repel flies from Tractor Supply or a feed store. I put them in my blinds that aren’t insect proof. One in your camera box would work, but I put two in my blinds. Handle them with gloves on.

Native, there might still be enough wood in that walnut for several sets of handgun grips. If it has good burl there’s definitely a market for it. Even straight grain will sell. Us handgun aficionados (nuts🤔) are goofy about nice handgun grips. BTW, I need directions to your farm in case...

    Not hunting……

Usually see them around my feeder by now, but I haven’t seen any yet. I still had one doe a few days ago that looked like she was still carrying fawns. Bred late I suppose.

    The Massey

Yes, I did it once too. It hurt worse when I saw mama out there looking for her baby. Now I don’t start mowing until July or August.

MM, my problem is not enough room to plant. These leases are both only there to grow timber, so we are limited to whatever space is open. At home, I have usually been able to somewhat keep up, but I feed protein too as a supplement. I have come to the conclusion that I cannot concoct a better...

I got some change on my end of one of my leases, but not for the better, at least short term. It’s actually my son’s lease but I’m a member. They clearcut my whole end, which is about 50 acres. Of course it looks like a bomb went off but I knew what to expect. I figured that all the activity...

Native, it sounds like a win-win to me. I’m not a farmer, (nor do I play one on tv), but I can’t see a downside to this. We all know how much deer love corn and beans, so you have more to attract them. Besides that, standing corn is cover too. Beans are somewhat also, although you didn’t specify...

    Not hunting……

I was tempted to leave them in there for a day or two, but with the forecasted storms and the buck traffic I get at that feeder, I figured the doe could take care of them better outside.
