Do you know the going rate to lease land to farm? I remeasured my open space and it turns out to be about 8 acres. I'm weighing my options on leasing it out. It's a hard pill to swallow for all the equipment I need and seed etc.

    Introduce yourself

My Name is Chad thus my handle. I live in south eastern PA on a small 30 acre farm that we purchased this past summer. I'm 38 years old married and have a 2.5 year old daughter + three dogs. I currently own my own business as a structural ironworker and welder. I've been dreaming about owning my...

Double A Farm (NE Ohio) Updates

This is a great thread and wonderful story. As I sit here in bed with my wife and small daughter I can't help to think that I'm getting ready to start my own adventure. We purchased a 30 acre farm about an hour west of philly. We went from a 3500sf house to a 1750sf ranch. It was an estate sale...

I'm familiar with New Holland, I take my deer to Martins to get butchered. They do a great job! My farm has deer come through a lot so I think whatever I put down will only increase the size and health!

I bought the farm from an estate sale last summer, it hasn't been touched in years. All I've done is bush hog the weeds done and their starting to come up now. I wanted to plant a pass or two of corn on the outside and either alfalfa on the interior or soybeans. I'm completely new to this, I've...

Who do you use to spread your lime? I just got my soil test back and it looks like I need 24tons spread on 12 acres. Also where can I buy seed, fertilizer, herbicide? There's not a ton of farms around here and I can't seem to find anything in my area. Anything would be huge as of right now I...

Kasco Plotters Choice - no till seeder 6'

Did you get the 3pt hitch model or the pull behind hydro model? The Kasco 6' pull behind model is going for $9500. What's the land pride or Great Plains go for? I don't want to spend that kind of money and it's not heavy enough. What's your opinion?

    Herbicide basics for food plots

What's the most eco friendly? My house and my well reside at the base of a 12 acre plot I'd like to practice some no till plots on. I'm just concerned about contamination. We have three dogs and a small child, not to mention a ton of deer come through here.

    Kasco Plotters Choice

Why did you go with the eco drill as opposed to the plotters choice?

Kasco Plotters Choice - no till seeder 6'

I'm looking at purchasing this unit, anyone have any reviews??? I'm looking at using it on 12 acres roughly. It's a gently sloping hill so that's why I'm looking at no till. Anyone have any suggestions or insight? Thx in advance

    John Deere or Kubota

I priced out both and went with a Kubatka m5660suh. The John Deere was more expensive and I felt it wasn't as well built. Also my buddy works for JD and he recommended the Kubota, he said their built like tanks and run forever. Hope this helps!
