Stone Branch, build it, they will come.

With the continuing drought we’re in, I doubt much burning will be done around us this year. Honestly, there just isn’t much to burn, there was so little growth of anything last year. I’m so envious of all that water in your last pics.

    The Massey

Moved through real fast, it rained here at the house for about a minute and a half. Looked like it might have rained a little longer at the farm.

    The Massey

We found most of ours close to wheat or really green forage. The drought really has things shook up around here, and it really put the deer on wheat even more than usual.

    The Massey

On a sad note, it is SO dry. I’m very nervous about the coming bud break on oaks and some fruit trees, I’m nervous we lost a lot of trees over winter.

    The Massey

Planted what will hopefully be our future persimmon grove. We put them at the end of the north waterway. We plan to get a cottonwood planted within bow range also soon — need a tree for the stand. :) The 12 little trees got some screening but that’s all; they are just native seedlings, so who...

    Drought and Survival

I’m really beginning to wonder if our area is under some kind of curse or something. I’m not speaking in jest, this might be judgment.

    Drought and Survival

Looks like another big system is gonna stay SE of us tomorrow. Okie should get another good soaking, we got a toad strangler yesterday — 3/10”. Biggest rain in a while.

    The Massey

We got up to 42 antlers for the season, just picked up what is probably the last on the way to the in-laws a couple days ago. It was a nice young 3 point side that survived both a chisel plow and a disk.:) Should have several trees showing up the end of this week to get in the ground, some of...

    River Ranch Project

In my experience, beavers hit willows hard, but if you can get them established, the beavers will keep them at browse level for you, willows are pretty tough. I'd have no problem with beavers at all, if they'd just leave our oaks alone! They took out two producing burr oaks along the creek...

    Nutsedge

That’s why I’m waiting a while to spray. I plan to take a look at the back plot this morning.

    Nutsedge

Plot is pretty full of it, the drought seemed to have made it explode the end of last summer. Must be some pretty drought resistant stuff and it had no competition at that point.
