    All things Safety

I like and use the following safety items HSS tree strap with a prussic knot when using a climber. https://huntersafetysystem.com/collections/accessories-test/products/rope-style-treestrap-1?variant=14038397452406 Lifeline on all fixed stands like this HSS one...

Late Season Bow Hunting - Clothes

Yep, I'd say the photo is Cabelas Wooltimate. I have the pull over Wooltimate and the pattern looks identical. It is a bit of a PITA to put on and take off but no zippers to allow air / wind in. It really works great. I cannot walk around in it as I will get extremely sweaty, strictly for...

    Lost a friend.

I totally feel your pain Jack. I lost my father 2 months ago tomorrow. We spent 40+ years together hunting the country, from Midwest whitetails to Elk, Muleys and Pronghorns in the Rockies. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. I struggle to type this now. This past weekend was my first...

    Deer in small woodlots

Thanks for posting up the aerial! Where bouts on the aerial were you getting the activity at? Looks like a pond circled in blue? If so, in relation to the pond? What direction are these bucks traveling? Assuming North is the top of the photo, are they traveling north to another block of timber...

    Deer in small woodlots

Ok Blizz, even though I am not a great conversationalist (is that even a real word?), I'll bite. :) I love discussions like this where I can hopefully learn something valuable and so I really appreciate this thread and all who contribute! As you know, I am that guy that gets hung up on needing a...

    Sheds yet?

Sorry I thought you knew my online handle, this is Mark and I hunted the South 80. Your comment about the young 10 made me think of the neighbor fella that stuck the 10 in Oct.

    Life Lines

About $23/ea is the lowest I have been able to purchase the materials to make my own. Every fixed stand I own or use has a lifeline on it! I've been looking at the treestand wingman and may purchase one of those to try.

Anyone ever host a physical property tour?

I have participated in all of Andy's property walks. I have always left the walks feeling that I learned a thing or two and really appreciate the opportunities! I do agree that the last two have probably been just a tad too big group wise and that it was difficult to hear Andy or Jim when they...

    New deer rifle caliber?

Definitely was an evolution to get us to the point we are now at, I watched much of it unfold via the WWW. I am for CF rifles but not happy that the politicians are how we got here, I feel our DNR should be the one in control of these things. I too believe it will be opened up to most all...

    Age Guesses Please

I agree that it appears that he has been on the go for quite some time now. I bet when he decides the party is over he will be hanging very close to a good food source and sleeping in! Thanks for the replies fellas!

    Age Guesses Please

This stud showed up this past Monday. Never caught him on cameras before so I am guessing that he is just passing through looking for some girls to hang out with but I sure hope he decides to stay! I am terrible at the age guessing game, I am thinking 4-1/2, what do you guess him at? Edit: I...

    New deer rifle caliber?

Anything in a .243 or .30 caliber (and metric equivalent) is legal on private property only. My personal vote would be for a .243 Winchester. The round can be loaded very mild and the cartridge can be used for varmints up to deer sized game. I understand that some of the Savage bolt gun...

    Tricks for seating sabotted bullets?

I am not familiar with the specific sabot / bullet combo that you are talking about but, if you really like the bullet, maybe give some different sabots a try. One will likely give you a slightly looser fit in the tube.
