Hello Wayne!
That was last years home grown 12-point. I’m pretty happy about him. I’ve watched him from being a nobby head to 10-point for two years before finally putting him down last year.
Southside is located south of Clarksville, north of Dickson. It’s closest to Cunningham, TN. I live about 7 miles from the Cumberland River. “Southside” is an unincorporated area. Only locals really know where we are.

We stayed in the area because I had already spent half my life being stationed at Ft Campbell and a bunch of my retired Green Beret buddies bought land like I did to hunt and mange food plots.

Your posts on Chestnuts are a wealth of knowledge. A friend was just trying to sell me on them as a better food source for deer than brassicas and clover plots. With the amount of money I’ve put into seeding, fertilizing and our LORD only knows how many hours I’ve spent out on the plots only to see them dry out and die, I’d be willing to try anything.

Plant Chestnut Seedlings on the north side of any food plot field - space them to get a tractor and bushhog between the trees (25 to 28 feet apart). Chestnuts need full sun, don't survive in standing water, & want acidic pH. Plant your clover plots - on north end 40 feet from woods plant seedlings in east-west line. I can gift you seedlings, if you are interested, let me know now. Can Meet in Springfield.

Deer like a variety to browse from. If I have only one food plot, it is clover. Better for deers health and can last many years in most situations. Clover likes to be mowed fairly often as it don't like stuff taller than it. Clover in one side of a plot with brassica or turnips in the other side work good. Plot mixes that the big companies sell works good as not all eggs in one basket.
