Winter wheat would work as well.....it will survive the winter and tend to be easier to deal with come spring. Rye can get really tall and tough and cause issues with rotary equipment.....winter wheat won't get as tall....now it won't green up as soon as rye......just another option vs oats or rye. Like was mentioned oats won;t survive the winter here.....rye will grow virtually on damp concrete!
