Wild Boar Pot Roast, Mississippi Style

You've probably heard of the Mississippi pot roast recipe. Same thing, just done with a wild boar front shoulder. Venison roast (or any other roast) is fantastic this way too.

5 lb boneless pork roast
1 jar of pepperoncinis
1 packet onion soup mix
1 packet ranch seasoning (ranch dressing mix)
1 packet au jus gravy powder
1/2 stick of butter

Place the roast into your slow cooker. Coat one side of the roast with half of each seasoning packet. Flip roast and repeat. Add pepperoncinis, I like to cut the tops/stems off with scissors. I add about 1/4 of the juice from the jar. Adjust for your taste. You can add potatoes and carrots also if you want more of a stew. Cook on low for 10-12 hours or until meat pulls apart easily with a fork. I like mine on a crusty roll with horseradish sauce.

The wife just made this the other night with beef. First thing I said was I bet it would work well on deer meat. On the agenda to try (it was good with beef).

Yessir, I've had it with pork, beef and venison. All delicious.

We do our venison very similar except for the au jus powder. I will have to add it next time. I also brown the meat before putting in crock pot just to get a sear for a little depth of flavor on meat. Now I just have to get moved into new house so I can find my crock pot to make your version. It looks great.

Sheez!!! That looks freakin good! Gotta quit leaving pigs where they lay after shootin em and try this.
