Wife said we got a light shower before daylight at the hollow...I am a few miles south of there and it is dry here. I checked farm logs but the shower was too light to register. I spread some clover sees before dark yesterday on the hollow plot because all the clover I had already planted this fall germinated And burned up.

Spoke with a fellow forum member by phone yesterday. He go's by "Rickey" here on our forum. He is from the South Carolina area but is here in our state working. Trying to make more money to buy some more land. Working 6 days a week but he is hoping to find a little time to come visit us on the hollow. Super friendly guy with no time to post right now due to working...

Perfect timing...

Found out yesterday that with the cold front coming we had a 40% chance of rain this evening and tonight. Many a time we have had a lot better chance and gotten none. After work today on a whim I decided to go buy 200 lbs of urea for our south plot here on the hollow since I still have my cone spreader on it from overseeing rye grain and if I needed to I could quickly fill it and run and spread the plot.

I got home and started fixing up some fishing poles for my daughter and the grandkids because they are having a church sponsored fishing day after church on Sunday and I need to change line and put hooks, sinkers, and bobbers on for them. As I was working on that I decided to check the weather map and I noticed a pop up thunderstorm about 35 miles SW that looked like it just might hit us here on the hollow so I jumped up and got the fertilizer loaded up and headed across the road. We got hit dead center by that storm and it looks like more developing and moving our way. I don't usually have luck like that. I just hope it is enough to help because it is probably going to be less than .5"... the rain will help on its own but I want the boost of the fertilizer too because we are supposed to hit 30's tomorrow night...

Got a little rain on 3 properties...especially excited about the .85 on the hollow right after putting down urea! Supposed to be 36 degrees tonight and back in the 80's in a couple days...wacky!

Thanks j-bird! The rain has me really excited and now I see we have another chance on Sunday... I hope I get a chance on one of those nice bucks this year...only ones traveling in daylight this year so far have been on our deer lease. I keep checking cams but the ones on our place are still nocturnal...for now...

A few weeks ago I applied for a promotion position within the same agency but at a different location. I found out a few days ago I was selected for the position. Luckily my vacation days and insurance stay with me...have to burn 135 hours of leave by January and will still have the maximum of 240 hours of carryover vacation hours into next year...taking days off here and there throughout the fall and of course cherry picked them...life is good!

New job starts in a little over 2 weeks but is going to be hit and miss all through November. I won't be there very much but new boss is totally on board with that. New job is supervisory so I have 8 employees to supervise starting off. 2 are lead and have been running the department for nearly a year so I have good backups I am told...

Hunted the hollow Sunday morning for first time this year. Awesome morning and I saw 6 bucks, 3 does, flock of turkeys, and 2 Great Pyrenees dogs...had ops on 3 of the bucks but the 1 I wanted was well out of range down through the woods...I was sitting the old North plot I have decided to let go native. Have done nothing with it this year but plant a few tree seedlings in it. No mowing or anything...still has clover in it...

Ended up hearing a rifle shot (bow only season) very near our new 10 acre addition so I got down to check it out. Shot actually ended up being on neighbors (poachers) place...couldn't see anything from my side of the fence.

Walked out past our south plot and took a few photos...a little rain once a week for past 3 weeks and some urea and we're off!

Fishing tournament with Jaxon was a blast on Sunday mid day. He ended up catching 5 fish from 21" down to 16". 1 little girl caught 15 fish and another little girl caught a 26" catfish. We had a great time!

Sunday evening I decided to get in on some local racing for a 10 place list like the show street outlaws portrays. There were 10 cars already on it and I was an alternate along with another guy trying to get on...by the end of the afternoon I was sitting at #3 spot and ran out of time to run the top 2...next time my small tire pig is going to send the big tires home empty handed...

Few more pics of west end of south plot. Lots of white oaks and thinnest plot growth as this is where all the deer enter the plot to feed. Lots of browsing going on in this section...
