"Whitetail Hollow" - 90 Acres NE Oklahoma.

Hope your shoulder heals, I've been there. Takes some babying and time. Glad you have that bear, I think everyone should have a few! Good luck with bucks.

Had a great evening in the stand...mowed our yard and got done about 6 pm so I told the wife I wanted to spend a bit in the stand...when I walked away from our house there were 3 deer in our back yard...thought it might be good even though it was hot and very dry.

First deer out was a young 8 point...

He was the first of 12 deer to come in before darkness came. Every single deer came to this waterhole as soon as they came to the plot. It has been very dry and this is the only water in over a mile...

Sorry to hear about the shoulder Johnny. I've never had major shoulder issues but have friends that have. No fun for sure. Always nice to sit a stand and watch deer. We've been open for archery since 2nd Saturday of Sept but still too hot to hunt for my taste. 90 plus degrees again today. Just really miserable weather for this late in the year. And, it's been extremely dry since the 1st of August down here. Plots planted but rain needed. Always enjoy catching up on Whitetail Hollow!

3C it’s certainly been a warm fall so far...we have been to 90 a few times since the 1st but it looks like a reprieve may be upon us that also has a rain chance with it...may have to bail out one day this week for some me time in the cooler temps...

Get to take my grandson Eli hunting on the 19th for youth season. He will be 13 this month and is growing up...I gave him a choice of where he wanted to hunt and he told me he wants to hunt Home 10 (25 acres)...may not see any giants but he doesn’t mind that at all...

It’s been a neat couple of days so far...the temps are stupid hot and the wind is fickle but I have seen deer on all 3 sits...

Yesterday morning I awoke to mid 40 temps and a NW wind so I decided to ease along our east fence and go all the way to the back of our property since I have not hunted there yet. Not too far into my travels I jumped some deer that spent a good deal of time making a ruckus. I continued on in the moonlight until I got to depth in the property I wanted to be but then I had to walk west to the stand I wanted to try. Being real close to the neighboring property I heard a commotion and at first I thought I was hearing someone breaking sticks and limbs to make a brush blind so I stopped and realized it was actually 2 bucks really duking it out!

I circled the pair trying to get to my tree stand and as soon as I got there I heard the silence and when I started climbing I heard the bucks start blowing and stomping before they took off...they were much closer than I thought...

7:45 I had a really nice buck walk through a really small gap in the trees about 75 yards. I had no time to get on him because I just happened to look over and see him just at the moment he passed the open spot that was about 10 feet wide. I got my ML ready and used my grunt call softly....which scared the bejeesus out of a deer directly behind me...that concluded the morning hunt...

I came home, took a nap and then went outside in the 78 degree temps to see yellow jacket wasp everywhere on our porch around all of my hunting clothes. They have a hive in our porch roof somewhere and these temps drew them out...I somehow got ready without being stung and I headed out for the evening hunt. I decided to hunt the N plot that I have not done a thing with for 2 years hoping it would grow up wild but instead it has just remained a beautiful clover plot deep in the woods...

Nothing moved till just before dark when a spike came in from the NE, ate a few bites, got a drink, then headed south into our property. I got down when I saw it was well past shooting time and as I was walking out I heard numerous deer blowing, stomping, and walking along beside me...I had deer 20 feet to my right pacing along with me...nuts...

This morning awoke to 60 degrees. Got ready and walked the east fence to get to the same stand I was in yesterday evening. Jumped deer not 50 yards into my journey and then again 3/4 of the way back. I got to the stand and climbed up and it made a loud metallic “pop” when I got to the platform. I sat down and got ready well before daylight and in the moonlight I saw 2 deer enter the plot. I used the scope to look them over and they were both nice but other than being almost an hour before legal shooting light I could not tell which deer they were. They ate for a bit, got a drink and then walked south into our property...

Right at legal shooting time I had a young 8 pt come in and get a few bites of clover, get a drink, and then exit the plot NE. A raccoon came along 30 minutes later and messed around in the plot digging and finally he left NE.

What came next was really neat...

Pretty cool right there Johnny. Those are just cool critters to see in the wild. Some folks go a lifetime in the outdoors and never encounter a bob cat. How's the shoulder coming along?

Been a real challenge thus far...no shooters seen by me or anyone on our deer lease. It was very hot with a full moon showing most of the night up until Wednesday am and then the wind switched out of the north and it started raining...and it still hasn’t stopped! Windy and rain...

Not giving up...will hunt every day until vacation is over...
