Thanks cutman. Even though that looks like a weedy mess, there is still a lot of red clover and chicory down in it.

I finally broke down yesterday and mowed it. It hadn't been mowed for well over a year. Most of those tall weeds are perilla (beefsteak plant). Generally you can set them back well if you let them get big (but not setting seed) before you mow them.

I will assess it in a month and either let go another year or replant.
