What Goes in Grafting Tackle Box?

In the video above it looked like he was grafting pecan to pecan. Any success with pecan to hickory? We have crap tons of hickory but no pecan.
I've read either in tree crops by j Russel Smith or nut grafting by Dr Robert T Morris that it will take and grow, but not produce pecans. These are both older books so someone may have more up to date information though.

Interesting. I'm pretty sure it will grow pecans. However, I did read an article about grafting a hickory to a pecan root stock and how it produced very well. He mentioned in the article that grafting pecan to hickory doesn't do as well.

I'm going out of town today, but I'll look it up and see which it was sometime this weekend. Pretty sure whichever one it was said it had to do with how the hickory rootstock grew as opposed to the pecan. It could have just as easily been they were to far north for the varieties they grafted though.
I may try and t bud a few to hickory this month just to see for myself. I've got a lot of small mockernut and shag hickory trees.
