I love this time of year, air is cooler, clearer and not a ripple in the harbour. Not a bad spot to sit and drink your coffee to think about which properties to set the coyote gear on first and the upcoming deer season! Good luck everyone.

How is your coyote population up there?

Coyote population is high, I run about fifty coyote traps and caught 42 last year. I know that’s not a lot compared to farmland but we are 98% forest here. Between the coyotes and bears our fawn recruitment has been very low the last few years.

That is a lot of coyotes. I have trapped off and on for fifty years and still feel lucky when I catch a coyote. I am Impressed.
