Were you raised in a barn????

Flowers just don’t seem to be blooming anywhere near my barn like yours!!

Is that snow now? We haven't had snow since January. Only 6" all winter.

Yep. Don’t get as much at farm n more dry zone. My house 20 min away had 6”. Been pretty dry. We are 40 inches below average snow for year. I feel another dry year coming on. Walked the farm and most things look good. Acorns still laying. Bucks still have horns. Except the one I shot n Dec of course!!! Had to carry deer and horns separately to the truck. Not sure his issue.
I’m managing for deer closer to the house to save my energy hunting and planting.

Since I'm a barn builder that comes from a long line of barn builders I have a love/ hate relationship with old barns. I love your pictures, or any pictures of old barns, and the character they have and give to a scenic picture. But I hate when I have to fix one of them up, because generally speaking, I can build a new one cheaper than fixing up an old one, and most barn owners can't understand that.

Mennonite,

I’ve been meaning to ask you what board and batten siding you used on that barn? Assuming it’s a fiber cement product, not traditional. If so, is there much difference in brands....certainteed, James hardy, etc?

That's actually real wood, 5/4 X 12 Eastern White Pine boards with 2" widebattens, installed with stainless steel nails, planed smooth on the inside, and a planed texture on the outside. There's a big market in the midalantic region for real wood siding on barns, and it's actually a good bit cheaper than Hardplank. Longevity is a little less than hardiplank, but in good conditions it should last 30-50 years.

Native that’s about as good of an example of “A JobWell Done” as I’ve ever seen. Awesome from every angle, in every season.

That’s awesome and one heck of a sharp looking barn! I assumed real wood would be cost prohibitive.
