Well, I took the crossbow plunge :-/

So did you get it all sighted in yet?
Not yet, heading up to the cabin Saturday for a few days, going to play with it up there. It is compact and unbelievably light. I think I may like it lol. I'll let you know how she shoots

I am using a Barnett Ghost 385 and will have to replace the string. The serving area is separating. Just bought it this past Christmas. I've always wondered how much stress is put on the string and limbs, having it cocked for hours while hunting?

If it is the serving on the rail, just have your local shop reserve it. If it is the serving around the cams, unless you see some of the string fibers cut, it should be ok. The serving in those areas tends to do that, no matter how good of a string is. Some just do it quicker than others.

I got her together and sighted in this weekend. Overall I am pleased with it. It's very light and small, although I am 6'2" and no issues with the size. Assembled easy. Scope is decent but confused when sighting in. My first shot at 10 yards was 8" too low. The sope has the typical 1/4" per click so I adjusted 32 clicks up and it brought the arrow up only 2 " I wound up adjusting almost 90 clickes up to hit bullseye. But once I did it was sigthed dead on at 20, 30 and 40 yards using the 3 cross hairs. Took over 30 shots without a single issue. It is loud though but I would guess most are. So far I am pleased with it

First shot at 30 yards

The 1/4" click is usually 1/4" per click at 100yds. If you're off 8" at 10 yards, you'd be off a 70+ inches at 100. I'm surprised 90 clicks got you where you're going. Although, I know nothing about crossbow scopes, there are other calibrations other that 1/4" at 100.

Double it each time(approx)...... 4 clicks at 100, 8 clicks at 50, 16 clicks at 25 for 1 inch of adjustment.

I purchased the Ghost 410 Christmas 14. I've probable shot it 120 times. Including every time I hunt. I wax the string and rail after 4 shots. So far so good. This spring I missed a turkey at 30 yards and was shocked. The arrow flew 8" high and right. I just sat there wondering what the heck went wrong. I went back to my cabin to shoot it and first arrow flew over the block. Decided to start over reseting the scope at 10 yards. Took about 10 shots to get it set. Not sure what was wrong. Checked all the fasteners. I've shot it a few times out to 80 yards and really impressed with its accuracy.

What broadheads?

I read reviews on strings breaking and reviews of never having a problem so we'll see. Barnett say the strings are breaking to to improper nocks used or the nock not being seated tightly against the string. You hear of this as a cause ?
I have a 7 year old Barnett wildcat. Never had an issue, and finally just had the string changed this year (only because it was starting to fray).
A buddy has a newer ghost which did have a string snap early on. He thinks the bolt wasn't up against the string properly, just like you say (his holding spring was a little loose and the arrow would move a bit if he pointed the bow down at the ground). No problems since.

Hopefully you won't have issues. But you always have to be aware of the bow. Check the whole bow between every shot.
I love my Barnett and feel like I've well gotten my money's worth, especially from an inexpensive bow. The FX2 you just bought would have been my purchase also. I'm frugal and will probably never spend the $800+ you can easily spend on high end models.

That pic is very familiar to me. Ruined several fletchings that first week. Interesting that the energy it produces at 30-40 yards is more than it is at 15-20. At least thats what I noticed on shooting mine.
A tip on shooting... I practice shooting sitting down due to my fear of heights (-: in the stand. Try crossing one leg and resting your front elbow on that knee. It makes a great stabilizer. I also practice standing but leaning against a post/tree. Enjoy your xbow!
