Well Crud..

Nice thing about that dope they give you, it keeps me from sleeping…period. I can stay up for days. You should be able to get all kinds of crap done while high as a kite. Just don't tell the surgeon. Get well quick.

Doc,
Hang in there. The day of surgery wasn't so bad because the anesthesia doesn't wear off for about 12 - 18 hours. The next couple of days are going to be rough. Take it easy and let people do stuff for you. That was the hardest part for me because I'm not one to sit around and be waited on. Prayers for a full recovery sent your way.

There should be a rule that injuries and repairs to the bodies of hunters should only occur in the dead of winter.
Be well.

Todd, hope you have a quick recovery. You are in good company, though. I believe Brush had avascular necrosis of his hips, and is better than new now.

Oh ****, the block wore off completely about 1 hour ago. I had been preparing myself but oh my gosh. I still had over an hour to go before I could have more oxy. Fortunately the Dr left orders for IV morphine if the pain became too intense. Pain was so bad I started throwing up--which made it hurt worse. Finally some IV Zofran and 4mg if morphine have me settled back down a little.

Sounds worse than a hip replacement. Sorry you're in such pain. I didn't wait the prescribed time before taking more Oxy, when I was in pain I took another pill.

Take it easy and be thankful you can take some of those pain meds. They cause me to throw up as does narcotic anesthesia.

Better today. Pain is way down. Just exhausted from not sleeping well. Will be in the hospital till Saturday.

Thanks for the prayers guts
Todd

Too dang hot to do anything much now anyway, might as well lay around and get waited on. Clicked my weather app to check the suffer meter today and swear I heard Vincent Price laughing in the background.

That really stinks.....hope the recovery will be speedy and you will be back in the game in no time. Take care, Todd.

I am home. They sent me home a day earlier than expected. I ended up getting a hemiarthroplasty of the left shoulder-which is a partial replacement. The top part of the joint (shoulder blade part) was perfect so they only replaced the ball part of my shoulder. Looks like this now.

Will take a month for the muscles to heal then I can start real therapy on my shoulder.

Todd

I'm sorry to hear of your injury. It may be time to start thinking of October hunting; ie; will you need to switch to a 243, Crossbow or learn to shoot using the other shoulder for a while? I'm thinking you are one of those never slow down people; take solace in knowing that it will only be a temporary setback. better days shall return.

I will be shooting a crossbow - at least early season. Fortunately it is my off shoulder so hopefully won't be a problem shooting a gun. I shoot. .25-06 so not a heavy round but I could always use my daughters .243

Thanks
