Triple C's Place

Got you a buddy-in-law suite in the basement. Bring your trad bow.

Perfect. Trad bow on shelf so far this yr due to dislocated rib beneath my scapula. Been in PT for 6 wks. Had to pull out old compound and cranked it back from 65 to 50#. It’s doing ok but scared to even string the stick bow. You don’t want a grown man cry like a baby. Do like the house.

Can you see your new house from the road Trip C? Was driving to Athens this weekend and saw a new house build that looked a lot like yours

Yes you can. Sits about 150 yds off of the road. The old log cabin is basically right on the road. Just south of Watkinsville off of Hwy 15.

Doug - Wishing you a speedy recovery! I could never imagine how a shoulder issue could cause so much pain that one couldn't draw a bow until it happened to me years ago. Not sure what caused it but came down with bursitis in my shoulder and couldn't even shave it was so painful. Fortunately it lasted only a few weeks and have never had a flare up again.

A few pics from past couple of weekends. Planted a few plots weekend before Labor Day weekend using the Plotmaster I bought back in 2011. Thing is still going strong and does a good job of planting.

Excellent germination 9 days after planting. This will be an action packed sit come November. Plenty of native browse and cover just steps away on either side.

Son has a job going about 10 minutes from farm so he had his equipment in the area. Brought it from job on Friday and repaired all interior roads where needed. Pretty fortunate to have a son in the grading / land clearing biz that also loves hunting. Makes such a huge difference having access to the right equipment.

He and his buddy leave next Sunday for CO till the end of the month or an elk down. Nothing he enjoys more than his annual trek out west to chase elk. We decided to get the farm in shape and most everything planted prior to him leaving. We have the cabin field sprayed and prepped for planting and will do that ahead of a rain event in October.

That’s about it for now. Archery opener is this coming Saturday. It’s a glorious time of year! Best of luck to all this fall.

All looks great! Should feed the herd well...having the right equipment at your disposal makes all the difference in the world!

Bout 6 weeks out from move-in date. Fencing at entrance is about finished. This fence should be here long after I’m in the dirt.

At the farm, 5 doe have been taken toward our goal of 10. Only 1 buck taken by a teenager’s first crack at a buck. Nice 2.5 yr old 4x4. All others got a pass so far. I pretty much suck at my quest to kill a buck with my recurve. 0 for 3 so far. Closest one at 8 yds. Still have til middle of January to get it done. Challenging to say the least.

Very nice TC. I can't get it done with any weapon so don't feel bad. I too have till 1 20 21 with modern bow, good luck.

Looking great Triple C. Back in the days I bow hunted quite a bit. Always told people I was better at 25 yards with a bow than at 100 with a 270. I was at a spot one afternoon, edge of field bordering woods. Deer poured out of the woods every afternoon. This was when only gun hunting for does in Alabama was Dec 26,27 and 28. I sat in my stand and they began to show up. I picked out a nice doe and shot....Missed. Not to worry they will be back. Sure enough. Picked out a nice doe and shot.....Missed. Now I only had two arrows with broadhead that day so I got down from my stand, retrieved the arrows, brushed them off a bit, back in stand and ready to make this happen. Right at dark deer shows up, I take my time and.....Missed.
The next day I return with my trusty target, place it in the exact same spots, and bullseye every time.
Sometimes it just ain't supposed to happen! Good luck. Merry Christmas

Been there lak! Had 4 arrows sticking up in the field a couple of years ago and none with blood on em. But...back in the day when the boys were just getting into hunting I joined an archery only club and introduced the boys to bowhunting. We've been at it ever since. I found it relatively easy to kill deer with a compound. Not so with a recurve. But...immensely enjoying the chase.

Not sure but definitely to a smaller, less fancy house in a county everyone is leaving as opposed to moving to. LOL. And, bad schools. Gotta have bad schools.

In that case, you have plenty of counties to choose from - Oconee County excluded. As for the downsizing...different strokes for different folks. Gonna be a mile in each direction from 2 sets of grandkids and want plenty of room for them to roam. Looking forward to seeing metro Atlanta in the rear-view mirror for the last time!
