Every August I would await the tractor supply sale on Pelletized lime and I would go buy a 1500 -2000 lbs at $3.00 a 40 lb bag marked down from $3.99...

They either changed brands or the same supplier went up in price...$4.99 a 40 now...just an fyi because I know many of you have done the same thing...

Thanks. I did this yearly as well, guess this year we will await the price drop to 3.99

You should try a local garden store by you usually it is around $3-4 a bag 50lbs tho. At mine there are regular pellet and high cal pellet ($7)

Lime prices have gone up at my local coop and farm and barn store. I was able to get a pallet of lime last year for 1.99 a bag, this year it is at 3.89. At the Farm and fleet I could get pel lime for 2.99 and now the best price is at 3.75. I think stores and suppliers are banking on the food plot and soil folks buying lots of lime.

Bought some yesterday for $4.99. Many of the bags were wet and clogged up the spreader. Pain in the neck!

Tractor Supply had the lime on-sale back in March for $2.99. That is when I scooped it up. Maybe they changed up based on marketing recommendation ie; put it on sale when all the suburbanites are planting flowers.

Back in March they still had it bagged as Soil DrRx and it was $3.99 dropped to $3.00.

You could always call a local lawn care company to see if they lime and if they do see if you can just bulk purchase through them when they order. Around here though not many do it so I have to just go it on my own.

If you know a veteran with a VA card they can get an additional 10% off at Lowes. I have one and use it every time I go there. That would bring it down to $3.30 per bag.

I'd pay an extra 30 cents a bag to not have to go through the big-box retail experience. At TSC, I can park right in front and find the flatbed cart I need to load it up and get out of there.

At Lowes they will use a forklift and load it right on your truck or trailer and you don't have to handle every bag.
My humble opinion.

This. They had the pallet on the side walk and I backed right up to it. Makes it nice not having to handle it twice especially when you buy 20 bags.

This is my ignorance showing, but I saw they had barn lime for $2.99. Will this work?
Barn lime will work but cannot be spread through a cone spreader...it is essentially the same stuff you can get for $30 a ton and have spread by a spreader truck...

Pellet lime is easily spread by a 3 point cone spreader...

My local tractor supply has terrible service and the 17 bags were wet, so I had the pleasure of spreading mud. I will happily buy lime from elsewhere in the future.

Four ton @ 40$/ton being spread for me by local coop in a few weeks. A no brainer for me. Sure glad I don't have to think it anyother way. Love watching that truck do the work. First application since done 8 yrs ago.. Finally dropped to 5.9 ph on one plot. Others have stayed at 7 thanks to good planting rotations. Feel sorry for you guys and those bags.
