Tip for removing hardened blue loctite

This stuff will dissolve blue loctite in just a matter of minutes. I had a rib mount on an expensive over and under that I used in still target competition. When I removed the mount I had loctite stuck to the top of the rib in two places. Acetone wouldn't touch it, but this stuff eat it up and didn't hurt the metal or finish.

Spray some in a glass jar and dab it on the place with a wooden dowel. It takes about 5 minutes.

That’s good to know, thanks. You have my curiosity up though, what is still target competition and what kind of sight did you have on the rib ?

I had a pistol scope on the rib of a Browning Citori shotgun, using a B-square universal mount. See the picture below:

Still Target was an NWTF sanctioned competition that went on for many years but was finally ended last year. I was heavy into it for a long time - winning 13 national championships and breaking world records 7 times. The object of the competition was to put as many pellets as possible in a 3 inch circle at 40 yards with #6 shot, using the shells that they furnished. The target was setting still and the shooter on a lowboy stool. I was sponsored by some big name companies and it was a blast to do for a long time. I still have some great friends I made doing that, and we text almost every day.

I've shot as many as 100 3-inch magnum turkey shells in a day, which might explain my current mental state....;)

Learn something new everyday around here ! I knew a little about these contests but not what they were called but I didn’t have a clue about a rib mount for scopes. Makes perfect sense though. The best turkey gun I’ve ever had was a Mossberg I won at an NWTF banquet that I installed Hi-Viz sights on the rib.
