Tick Vengence

I know I’m probably preaching to the choir, but use your permethrin everybody! I soak a couple pairs of pants with Sawyers each summer and a shirt or two as well. I reapply after every third washing. Today after checking a camera I found a tick crawling on my pants in the car. I pulled over to watch the show. My pants were on their second washing, so I wasn’t sure how long it would take to see the tick begin to be affected. It took less than two minutes. He fell off my pants onto the car seat. Pretty easy to see why I haven’t had a tick all summer.

I wear Rhynoskin, never have toworry about chiggers, ticks, or now mosquitos. I never have been bitten while wearing them and the best part is I don't have to use any smelly chemicals while scouting. I can spray myself down with scent killer and scout away.

I know i preached it in prior tick conversations......elimitik pants go buy a pair of lightweight work pair you won't regret it, hardly even have to worry about checking yourself at end of the day, not sure i had more than 2 to 3 all summer long this year. Days i forgot and wore jeans dozen+. No worrying about it wearing off or anything and my current pair is on 3-4 years roughly and never has to be retreated.

I used to use Sawyers, good stuff.

But now I go to Tractor Supply and buy the
Unmixed Permethrin they use for spraying cattle, horses and barns.

I mix it myself and use a generic spray bottle to apply.

A bottle is like $7.00 and will last for years.

I've done the same. You can also get it in Walmart in the pet care section. Much, much cheaper and last so much longer than the spray can stuff.

When hunting, habitat work,, or cam checking, knee high rubber boots are key tick prevention equipment for us.
Absolutely.

We don't know what's gonna get us, but I do make an effort to cut out certain things that are likely gonna pop up in a class action lawsuit commercial on daytime TV someday. I also wear cheapo rubber boots and tuck pants in, no matter how blasted hot it is. I went no permeth this year and haven't had any ticks get a grip yet. I'm pretty diligent about staying outta the hot spots though or checking as soon as i get through them.

I have the worst ticks anywhere,I have had RMSF and lyme and 2 others in my family have had lyme. The regular tick season is basically over now but the seed ticks will be out.I had 3 last night. These are so small if you start itching you have to look really close to see them.I use sawyers when ever I know I will be in bad spot

You can also send your own clothes to Insect Shield and they will give it the same lifetime treatment of permethrin that they apply to their brand of clothes. Good for 70 launderings. They charge by the pound of clothes.
I have some Insect Shield treated clothes of brand name clothing. Ex Officio and Rail Raiders. Insect shield is good stuff. No smell and no worries about retreating.

Quit using permanently, deodorant, scented soaps / shampoo , hair gel or tx , after shave lotion, wash clothes baking soda , and your tick prob/flying bug problem will go away.

Sure wish the home remedies worked on these damn low country no-see-ums in Virginia!!!

Southern Iowa was the epitome of pestilence. A guy in town told me that he eats garlic tabs and never gets ticks, So I ate garlic tabs and then garlic bunches raw. Well I guess that the ticks at my place had a flair for Italian cuisine. While I have to protect myself here in Kentucky from ticks it is nothing like Iowa was. I've yet to be covered with 10,000 seed ticks here in ky.

Chiggers on the other hand, as in Iowa, if I go out unprotected looking for chiggers I will find them. While my one neighbor in the hollow says that he has never had a chigger.

Point being, some folks are just plain sour.
