My throw and grow radishes haven't seen much rain. I have a few popping up. Added a little wheat to hopefully fill in some holes.

Down the center of the plot the clover sure liked the glyphosate treatment. This plot will probably go back to straight clover for a couple of years.

Hopefully you get some rain soon. Those radishes are thick enough that they would fill in themselves if they had moisture. That clover is the very reason why I add 10oz. of roundup to clethodim to spray clover, clover seems to flourish when it's hit lightly with roundup.

No rain yet, not better than a 30% chance in the 10 day. Just another reason I think I am going with more perennial clover next year. Bow opens this weekend, probably not going to make it out until first week of October. I think they put less time in each week any more!

Went up for a little bow hunting. Had this guy come in first night

Maybe next year

Second night had a big mule faced doe come through. 30 yards than she ran about 50 yards through a stick tight hell hole

About 830 before I got back to the shed

Had a few seasons behind her

Get the freezer ready. Looks like someone made a great shot

I have a few packages from last year that need to get turned into jerky or sausage. I was pretty close to running out right when I started stacking new. We ate the tenderloins last night, everything else is wrapped and frozen.

She stepped back right as I released. Went through part of the on side leg through the heart and hit a rib on the off side. Did not get a pass through but she bled like a stuck hog. I was using the rage hypodermic. Not sure I would have expected more from the slick trick fixed blade I usually use.

Does the rage maintain the same line as a field point? That's a big issue I have is going from field point to Broadhead

The hypodermics are closer to the field tips than the slick tricks were from my bow. Both were close enough. I don't shoot too far though, I passed up plenty of 40 - 45 yard shots waiting on 30. I am sure the farther out you get the more exaggerated the difference becomes.

How about some age guesses on the jaw bone above (I'll try to take better pics when I get it cleaned up)?

If not go to archery talk forum and learn how to string tune your bow. Will make bow shoot any broad head like field point.

I’ve been shooting slick tricks since 2003. They are my fixed head of choice. I’ve tuned 12-15 bows to shoot them. Having said that, they will not always shoot with field tips at all ranges. Adjusting the rest, poundage, paper tuning and walkback tuning has failed to bring the point of impact at 40 yds and beyond on about 1/4 of the bows. They’ve always been sufficient for close range...but not perfect. This has been with various Bowtech, Diamond, Elite and Ross bows. They’ve always been easier to tune in the 275fps range. As you approach mid to high 290s, it’s more difficult. This is with quality mid weight arrows (350-415g arrows). YMMV

Struck out on youth season. The kid hunted hard in the cold we just couldn't get a buck to cooperate. A lot of corn still in up there. We saw quite a few scrapes and heard some grunting so it should be heating up. I am starting to like this guiding job more than being the trigger man!

Congratulations on a good hunt. Passing a nice buck and taking a large doe is good evening. The doe looks like a sure 5 1/2 to my eyes but I never was an expert at it or even very good.
