The Farm - Madison County, GA

Keith, pretty much hype at my place. A couple inches of slow rain which was good for the plots. A few trees down. Power never went out.

After one of the wettest springs and summers on record, we haven't had rain in three weeks now, with another ten days of 80 degree weather and sunshine on the horizon. Of course, I planted all of my hardwoods that I started over the winter in early September...go figure. The sawtooth you sent did great and will probably get a splash tomorrow morning just to keep them happy until they go dormant.

A week of 80 degrees shouldn't hurt them. They take weeks of 90 plus here and keep on ticking. Never hurts to water a little though.

Let's hope. Deer are HAMMERING it. I only mowed it because I like to look at pretty plots. Had some crabgrass in it that made it look bad. It looks good now!

LLC's got a green thumb! Grafted 10 apple trees for me this past spring. They were about 12 inches tall when he grafted them to rootstock I ordered. Snapped this pic a few weeks ago. Tubes are 5ft tall. This yates apple is already out of the tube. Amazing growth on the grafts this year! All the sawtooth and chestnut whips I got from him are growing like crazy in tubes.

Thanks AC. Love to grow things.

Nate saved our butts this year. Cooler weather here now so we should be good to go. Deer are heavily on acorns now, too, so it's giving plots time to get ahead of them.

Tommy...I'm having to live vicariously thru pics from Brooks of our place and when I can get on here and catch up on threads. Farm time has been extremely hampered this fall with travel schedule and weekend out-of-town work related events. We're fortunate to have had timely rain since planting time. Looking forward to getting out to our neck of the woods and get a sit in a stand.

Understand buddy. After the depression of the Obama era, I've adopted a "get it while you can" policy. I'll hunt later.
