The Brushpile

With no rain in weeks, it rained .5 of an inch yesterday, and today Heavy Rain was in the forecast, not just rain, "HEAVY RAIN"; WOW!!! So I bought sunflower, turnip, and wheat seed, plus fertilizer to rejuvenate drought damaged plots.

I do believe the weather Gods are against you. Has been a crazy year. I am putting in seed tomorrow so I am sure we will go dry in our neck of the woods too.

Crazy when the rain Gods go back on their word! Heavy rain should mean that it at least rains a little!

Your still doing better than we are...when you think it is bad just realize it could be worse! I thanked god for the .29 we got yesterday...

Good grief, I was in the Middle East for many years and it rained more there this time of year! That said, it's dry and rocky here and drier and rockier on your place. I hope we both get the rain needed for Fall plots. Just North of me there has been plenty of rain!

This morning the weatherman said this was the 6th driest September on record. For the month there was .5 of an inch!

You still whooped my butt on rainfall... .29 was all we could muster from 8/17/17 through today...
Beat you by 2/10ths, but this is not normal! This is historic! I had a dream that there was a type of cactus I should be planting for deer to browse, and if this keeps up that dream will be a reality!

I have many Sequin/Chinese Chinkapin, but this one is in the yard.

Drought caused it to abort most of it's nuts.

Because of drought most of the nuts did not form.

I watered it and it flowered like it would in the Spring.

The tree was watered a few times and did produce a few chinkapins.

A seedling from seed. This is growing under the tree.

There are burs that appear to hold nuts.

The end of a river. About 50 yards down stream I once caught 3 pound bass!

The pond is on live support, with a hose running 24/7.

Lots in the same boat. I've had about .2 since end of August. 80 & 90% chances Wednesday night through Thurs night. Surely that won't vaporize...

I sure thought you got more than a quarter inch. Been blessed the last couple weeks. Last week I got 2" and today 3". Hope more rain finds the brushpile

The air is too dry for rain to fall, so storms move around this location like a doughnut hole. I'm thankful for the .25, it stopped dying and might help food plots return. The weatherman said that if all the moisture in an air column over this location was compressed, there would less than an inch of water.
