Survivors thread...

Been wanting to do this for awhile and since the bucks here are starting to shed I need to go ahead and do it. This year my wife and I had a good year here on the hollow but we had a lot of bucks we either passed or never saw from the stand. We only own 90 acres but it is a magical place...not a single mature buck we started the season with has been taken by any of the neighbors or poachers. Here are some of the “survivors”...

Big Boy! Another giant bodied ancient buck that I never saw from the stand and only had 1 daylight photo of back in November...

And he just shed the last couple of days...

The next one is Big 8...he was still carrying last night...

The next deer I passed a few times this year...he is a 4.5 yr old 10 I just called “10”...he is still carrying...

The one I am most excited about is this 3.5 yr old buck I call “stickers”.

That is great! What are you feeding them? Do you feed year round? I have 350 acres and the four mature bucks on camera all were killed this year. One by us and three by the neighbors. Last year, we also had four mature bucks and three of them were killed.

We have numerous small land owner neighbors- 10/30 acres. they all legally bait and really pull the the bucks and are efficient at killing them all. I don’t bait except for camera surveys. Next year I am going to. If you can’t beat them- join them.

Bully Buck...for the past 3 years he has looked the same...he’s a really old warrior...lately he has been hanging out in our backyard...

Great thread Okie! Our season ends this coming Sunday. And bone down here generally doesn't fall off until mid-February. Over the next month we'll capture pics of bucks that made it thru and post em up here.

Wasn’t it you that posted about an injured/sick buck earlier this fall? If it was, any update?

I can’t be 100% sure but my assumption is he passed away...he was so sick he shed really early and I got a few more pics and 1 day he was just gone...I figured coyotes finally pulled him down...I found 1 of his sheds last year...

It was bound to happen I guess. Unfortunate, but that’s just the way nature works

Various other bucks...some pics have some of the featured deer in them...

A fine looking group of survivors. We don't have a deer left that will be a shooter next year. Maybe something new will show up!
